DOT date code

The last four digits of the Tire Identification Number — first two digits are the production week (01–52), last two are the year. Example: "2524" = week 25 of 2024.

The date code informs age review; it does not replace condition inspection. There is no single federal age limit that automatically removes a commercial tire from service based on date code alone.

Real-World Use

A buyer checking used trailer tires records the date code, then still inspects storage cracking, repairs, and tread condition — age is one input, not the complete answer.
